Our dumpster sizes

Dumpster rental — or bin rental, as many Montrealers call it — for the big cleanout, an estate, a renovation or a demolition: dry materials, soil, concrete, bricks, asphalt and more.

Your driveway is protected

A full dumpster is heavy, and drop-off and pickup are when asphalt gets marked. Every Megabac dumpster arrives clean, safe and fitted with the exclusive PROTEC-O-SOL system: built-in planks that spread the load and protect your asphalt, concrete or paved driveway. Nothing to supply, nothing extra to pay.

A tip from our drivers, for total protection

Even with the planks, the dumpster is still a steel box. Before the truck arrives, lay down four flattened cardboard boxes — or a thin sheet of plywood — where the dumpster will sit: the steel never touches your asphalt or your pavers directly. Two minutes of prep, zero worries.

How much does it cost?

Included in your rental

  • Delivery and pickup
  • 7 days of rental — 15 for contractors — whatever the size
  • The PROTEC-O-SOL protection planks

What can be added

  • Going over the included weight, billed by the weigh ticket
  • Mixed loads in a single-material dumpster

What makes up the price, in plain words → And if you free up the dumpster within 48 hours of delivery, the Libération Express credit applies — details below.

Choose the right type of dumpster

Size is not the whole story: dumpsters are rented by material type. Each type goes to a different disposal facility — that is why mixed loads bring extra fees. One choice to make, five options:

Why it matters. A dumpster rented for concrete that shows up at the disposal facility with wood in it is refused at the concrete rate: the sorting gets billed back. If you have several types of materials, say so in the form or at 514 708-2424 — we point you to the right type, or to two dumpsters when that costs less than sorting fees.

Frequently asked questions — Verdun

Is a dumpster permit required in Verdun?

Not on private property: the official page says so outright, for residential and commercial lots alike. Yes the moment it touches the public way — street, alley, sidewalk or bike path — with at least 2 business days' notice. When in doubt, 311 answers, and so does our team at 514 708-2424.

Can the dumpster go in a Verdun back alley?

Yes, with the public-domain occupancy permit: the alley is part of the public way just like the street. The 2026 fee schedule sets $59 per day for an unpaved surface, plus $52 per day if the alley has to be fully closed. Think about clearance for the truck as well: we confirm the passage width with you by phone before locking in the delivery.

Who applies for the permit in Verdun: the client or the contractor?

The contractor, whenever the contractor carries out the work: the borough requires it in so many words, a rule found in neither the Montreal block nor the Saint-Laurent one. The application goes exclusively through montreal.ca — and since offices close Fridays at 12:30 p.m., a Monday job means an application sent by Wednesday at the latest.

Is there an ecocentre in Verdun?

No: none of Montreal's seven ecocentres stands on the borough's territory. The Montreal network takes over, including the LaSalle ecocentre at 7272, rue Saint-Patrick — closed Mondays year-round and Sundays in winter, but with no cap on visits, an advantage it shares only with the Saint-Laurent ecocentre.

Why not just use Verdun's bulky-item collection?

Because it tops out at 2 m³ per address — roughly a quarter of a 10-yard dumpster — in receptacles of 25 kg at most, because it refuses construction bags, and because it is reserved for residents. Beyond 2 m³, the city itself lists the options: the ecocentre, for a fee, or a private contractor.

Which dumpster size for renovating a Verdun plex?

The 20-yard in most cases: kitchen, bathroom and plaster demolition all fit, and it takes up about the size of a Dodge Caravan. The 10-yard is a 20-yard filled halfway — same footprint, just lower — so it frees up no room in a short driveway. Two minutes on the phone and we settle it for your project.

How many days does the rental include, and how does the $50 credit work?

Seven days are included, whatever the size. The Libération Express credit of $50 applies if you free up the dumpster within 48 hours of delivery; after that window, your 7-day rental simply carries on. Offer valid during the high season (March to October); the credit goes back on your credit card, deducted from any extras or refunded in full if there are none.

And elsewhere? We checked the permit rule in every city we serve, by-law in hand — because it is never the same from one city to the next.

Plexes, staircases and back alleys

The 2016 census counts only 3.3% single-family homes in Verdun: of 33,995 dwellings, 21.4% are duplexes and 47.2% are apartments in buildings under five storeys. Outdoor staircase, no garage, an alley out back — add 45.7% of the housing stock built before 1961 and 63% of households renting, and when a Verdun owner opens up the walls, a dumpster rental is rarely far behind. In Wellington-De L'Église as in Desmarchais-Crawford — a 1940s sector edged by the aqueduct canal — a housing stock ruled by the plex rarely leaves a private driveway for the dumpster; that is where the street and alley permit, detailed below, takes over. Île-des-Sœurs, the borough's third official neighbourhood, has its own page: dumpster rental on Île-des-Sœurs (Nuns' Island).

Around the Well

The borough's official page describes Verdun as a mainly residential area: the business clientele here means renovation contractors and shopkeepers, not heavy industry. Rue Wellington — "the Well" to locals — lines up more than 250 businesses and was named the coolest street in the world by Time Out in 2022; its shops and restaurants remodel often, and those jobs need debris hauled out fast, without cluttering the public way. On Google, Verdun appears among the declared service areas of our Montreal listing, rated 5.0 across 59 reviews.

Winter in Verdun

Snow removal reads differently here: along with LaSalle and Pierrefonds-Roxboro, Verdun is one of the boroughs where the permanent signage already includes the no-parking rules tied to snow loading. No orange signs planted at the last minute — you call the number printed on the signs to know whether the ban is in force, and a vehicle left in place risks towing and a fine. Those rules target cars, but the same caution applies to a dumpster: when a loading operation is coming, aim for the driveway or the yard rather than the roadway.

Why the drop-off centre is not enough in Verdun

Perfect for a trunkload; here is what jams up as soon as a real project starts.

The ruleWhat it means for a job site
Closed MondaysEvery week of the year; on the winter schedule (October 15 to April 14), Sundays close as well
12 m³ / year freeFor residents; $31 per extra m³ after that
Unlimited visitsAn advantage shared only with Saint-Laurent — every other ecocentre caps them at 15 a year
$31 / m³The rate for construction businesses, with proof of eligibility
No one helpsStaff take no part in unloading — everything goes through your own arms

Curbside pickup, for its part, is reserved for residents and tops out at 2 m³ per address — about a quarter of a 10-yard dumpster — in receptacles of 25 kg at most, construction bags refused; past that, the city's own text points to the ecocentre… or to a private contractor. That is where a bin rental earns its keep.
