Dumpster rental — or bin rental, as many Montrealers call it — for the big cleanout, an estate, a renovation or a demolition: dry materials, soil, concrete, bricks, asphalt and more.
14' long × 8' wide × 2.5' high · 3 to 4 pickup-truck loads
A 20-yard filled halfway: same footprint, just lower — choosing it won't free up space in a short driveway.

Libération Express
Every rental includes 7 days — 15 for contractors. But if you work fast, our quick-release promotion rewards you:
More than 48 hours after delivery, the promotion no longer applies — your 7-day rental simply continues, without the credit.
Freeing up dumpsters sooner is also what lets us deliver faster everywhere in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu — everyone wins.
Offer valid during the high season (March to October).
A full dumpster is heavy, and drop-off and pickup are when asphalt gets marked. Every Megabac dumpster arrives clean, safe and fitted with the exclusive PROTEC-O-SOL system: built-in planks that spread the load and protect your asphalt, concrete or paved driveway. Nothing to supply, nothing extra to pay.
Even with the planks, the dumpster is still a steel box. Before the truck arrives, lay down four flattened cardboard boxes — or a thin sheet of plywood — where the dumpster will sit: the steel never touches your asphalt or your pavers directly. Two minutes of prep, zero worries.
The price depends on the size, the type of materials, how long you keep it — and your area. The form above or a two-minute call is all it takes to get your exact price, fast. What makes up the price, in plain words → And if you free up the dumpster within 48 hours of delivery, the Libération Express credit applies — details below.
Size is not the whole story: dumpsters are rented by material type. Each type goes to a different disposal facility — that is why mixed loads bring extra fees. One choice to make, five options:

10, 20 and 40 cubic yards
The do-it-all dumpster: wood, drywall, metal, shingles, furniture — mixed, no problem.

20 yard — the only size offered
Excavation, grading, sod removal — soil, rocks and sod, nothing else.

20 yard — the only size offered
Walkways, slabs, foundations — broken concrete, nothing else.

20 yard — the only size offered
Walls, chimneys, masonry facing — bricks and mortar, nothing else.

20 yard — the only size offered
Old torn-up paving, curb pieces — asphalt, nothing else.
Why it matters. A dumpster rented for concrete that shows up at the disposal facility with wood in it is refused at the concrete rate: the sorting gets billed back. If you have several types of materials, say so in the form or at 514 708-2424 — we point you to the right type, or to two dumpsters when that costs less than sorting fees.

Paint, solvents, oils
Propane, aerosols, acidsNot in a private driveway — no municipal by-law requires one — but yes once it crosses onto the street, the sidewalk or the grassy strip: by-law 1885 then requires an authorization from the Service des travaux publics (450 357-2238), with a plan and proof of insurance. Our advice: aim for the driveway — we help you measure it over the phone.
The city publishes no fee explicitly tied to dumpsters: the fee by-law does provide a charge for using the public domain, but whether it applies to a dumpster gets confirmed with the Service des travaux publics (450 357-2238). What is certain: without authorization, the fine is $500 for an individual and $1,000 for a business (by-law 1885, s. 96).
Yes, two: Iberville (825, rue Lucien-Beaudin, closed Wednesdays and Thursdays) and Saint-Luc (950, rue Gaudette, closed Mondays), run by Compo-Haut-Richelieu. Each address is entitled to 3 free accesses of 75 cu ft per calendar year, and closing time is when unloading has to be finished.
Yes: by-law 0278 bans trucks of 4,500 kg and over from several hundred streets in the city, but it expressly exempts local delivery — picking up or dropping off goods, providing a service. Dropping off or collecting your dumpster falls squarely within that exception, on both banks of the Richelieu.
Between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. on weekdays, and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekends: that is the safe window of the noise by-law, whose section 11 covers loading and unloading operations liable to disturb the neighbourhood outside those hours. Our routes keep to it as a matter of course.
The 20-yard in most cases: about the size of a Dodge Caravan — room for the van means room for the dumpster. The 10-yard amounts to a 20 at half fill: same footprint, not as tall, handy on the narrow lots of the older sectors. The 40-yard is kept for big job sites and full cleanouts.
Yes, the soil-rocks-sod dumpster is built for exactly that — and it matters here, since the Compo-Haut-Richelieu ecocentres refuse sand, soil and peat from every user. One caution: that dumpster takes only that material, and any mixing brings sorting fees.
And elsewhere? We checked the permit rule in every city we serve, by-law in hand — because it is never the same from one city to the next.

“Impeccable service from start to finish! Fast, flexible delivery, even at the last minute — much appreciated. The dumpsters are clean and the protective feet make all the difference.”— Jonathan Tremblay, Google review, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu listing (translated from French)
“I rented a waste dumpster for renovations, and everything went really smoothly. They are truly professional, fast, and I recommend them 100%.”— Carl Grenier, Google review, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu listing (translated from French)
We deliver to every neighbourhood in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu — and we know the area.
Five former municipalities have made up Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu since the merger of January 24, 2001 — Saint-Jean, Iberville, Saint-Luc, L'Acadie and Saint-Athanase, each now an official sector. The 2021 census counts 97,873 residents and 42,913 occupied private dwellings, 50.1% of them single-detached houses and 59.9% owner households: the typical profile of our residential dumpster rentals. In Vieux-Saint-Jean, Vieux-Iberville and Vieux-L'Acadie, sectors subject to a PIIA (site planning and architectural integration program), lots run narrow: the 10-yard earns its keep there — same footprint as a 20, just not as tall. In the newer stretches of Saint-Luc and Saint-Athanase, asphalt driveways take every size, PROTEC-O-SOL planks underneath and — a tip our drivers insist on — four flattened cardboard boxes or a thin sheet of plywood at the exact landing point.
Statistics Canada, 2021 census, and City of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu (Secteurs, Historique and Patrimoine bâti pages), verified August 14, 2026.
The territory lines up 13 commercial zones and about 1,600 establishments: more than 300 businesses and close to 2,000 workers in Vieux-Saint-Jean alone, a regional big-box hub on Boulevard Omer-Marcil, and the Carrefour Richelieu, which draws more than 5 million visitors a year. The three municipal industrial parks — Saint-Jean, Iberville and Saint-Luc — totalled just under 50 million square feet in the 2007 urban plan (a 2006 figure). One thoroughly local logistics quirk: the Richelieu River splits the city in two, and by-law 0278 was adopted in part to restrict heavy vehicles on the Gouin Bridge and protect its structure. Our dumpster rotations are therefore planned around which bank your job site sits on.

From November 1 to April 30, whenever a snow-removal operation is declared, overnight parking is banned from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. on public roads — and from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. downtown, in the area bounded by the river and by Foch, Laurier and Frontenac streets. The notice goes out from 5 p.m., notably at 450 357-2020. After a snowfall of 15 to 25 cm, the city allows itself 4 to 5 days to finish loading the snow away. Those rules target vehicles, not dumpsters, but the lesson carries over: in winter the street may be needed across its full width, and the private driveway is the only stable position. Your snow-removal stakes, for their part, are tolerated in the roadside right-of-way from October 15 to May 15, more than 1.2 m from the curb and between 1.2 and 2 m tall.

For a one-off cleanout, they do the job. For a renovation project, the quotas speak for themselves — which is when a bin rental starts paying off.
| The rule | What it means for a job site |
|---|---|
| 3 accesses / year | Of 75 cu ft each, per address: 225 cu ft in all, roughly 8.3 cubic yards — below what a single 10-yard dumpster holds (worked out from the figures Compo publishes) |
| $50 to $445.01 | A load of construction materials once the free accesses are used up, depending on volume and status (2026 price list of May 21, 2026, taxes included) |
| 75 cu ft maximum | The cap per load for concrete, asphalt, bricks and stones, whoever the user is |
| Soil refused | Sand, soil and peat are banned from every ecocentre, for everyone — the soil-rocks-sod dumpster picks up from there |
At the curb, garbage collection comes every two weeks and takes only what fits in the 240 or 360 litre cart (45 kg maximum); construction, renovation and demolition materials are banned from it, and the monthly bulky-item collection accepts upholstered pieces only. Compo also asks for 60 cm between the cart and any obstacle — with dumpsters named outright.
