Your driveway is protected

A full dumpster is heavy, and drop-off and pickup are when asphalt gets marked. Every Megabac dumpster arrives clean, safe and fitted with the exclusive PROTEC-O-SOL system: built-in planks that spread the load and protect your asphalt, concrete or paved driveway. Nothing to supply, nothing extra to pay.

A tip from our drivers, for total protection

Even with the planks, the dumpster is still a steel box. Before the truck arrives, lay down four flattened cardboard boxes — or a thin sheet of plywood — where the dumpster will sit: the steel never touches your asphalt or your pavers directly. Two minutes of prep, zero worries.

Choose the right type of dumpster

Size is not the whole story: dumpsters are rented by material type. Each type goes to a different disposal facility — that is why mixed loads bring extra fees. One choice to make, five options:

Why it matters. A dumpster rented for concrete that shows up at the disposal facility with wood in it is refused at the concrete rate: the sorting gets billed back. If you have several types of materials, say so in the form or at 514 708-2424 — we point you to the right type, or to two dumpsters when that costs less than sorting fees.

Frequently asked questions — Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville

Does a dumpster need a permit in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville?

Not in your driveway. The table in section 25 of by-law URB-ADM2017 lists the "waste container" at line 44 and files it in the NONE column: no permit, no certificate. That table does not, however, tell a permanent bin apart from a temporary rental dumpster; for a particular case, the regulation, permits and inspection division answers at 450 645-2930. The moment the dumpster touches the street right-of-way, a certificate of authorization becomes mandatory.

What does a dumpster placed in the street cost in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville?

Fee by-law 2025-20 sets temporary occupancy of the street right-of-way, reserved for job-site work, at $125 per day: seven days come to $875 paid to the city, on top of the dumpster itself. And the certificate is not handed out on request — you have to show that storing on private property is impossible, provide liability insurance of $2,000,000, the contractor's RBQ number, a location plan and a deposit. In the driveway: no municipal fee, no form.

Can the ecocentre at 600, rue Sagard replace a dumpster?

For a trailer load of old furniture, yes. For a job site, no: each address gets 12 free entries a year across the whole three-ecocentre network, and each visit has to stay under 2.5 m³, unloaded by hand. Working from those official figures, it takes at least four trips to move the equivalent of a 10-yard dumpster and at least thirteen for a 40-yard — more than a full year's quota. Two local refusals come on top: no branches at this site, and granular material only from April 15 to November 15.

Does a job site in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville have to have its own dumpster?

Yes, as soon as a construction permit is issued. Section 49, paragraph 2, of by-law URB-ADM2017 obliges the applicant to install, on the site covered by the permit, a dumpster "of sufficient capacity" so that no waste piles up outside. Very few cities put it that plainly.

Can the dumpster be dropped in front of the neighbour's property?

No, and two by-laws close that door separately. Section 19, paragraph 3, of by-law 2025-15 forbids setting a waste bin in front of someone else's property without the city's approval; section 16 of by-law 2024-34 opens the street right-of-way only in front of the lot where the job site is set up. Same caution for the strip of grass along your lot: that excess right-of-way belongs to public property.

How many days does the dumpster stay on site?

Every size comes with seven days, and the stay stretches by arrangement. The other way around, a dumpster freed up less than 48 hours after delivery earns the $50 Libération Express credit — offer valid during the high season, March through October. The credit goes back on your credit card: subtracted from the extras if there are any, refunded in full if there are none.

Can everything go in the same dumpster?

The mixed dry materials dumpster takes wood, drywall, shingles, metal and furniture together. The four other families — concrete, asphalt, bricks and mortar, soil-rocks-sod — accept a single material only: mixing triggers sorting fees. As for tires, paints, solvents, oils, aerosols, acids and propane tanks, no size takes them at all.

And elsewhere? We checked the permit rule in every city we serve, by-law in hand — because it is never the same from one city to the next.

What the housing stock changes here

Close to 73% of dwellings are detached single-family homes and 84% of households own their home — proportions recorded in the 2011 census and carried over into the urban plan. More telling still, average residential density, 10 dwellings per hectare, is the lowest in the whole Longueuil agglomeration. Nowhere else in the agglomeration does the private driveway do the job as often, and the driveway is precisely the placement that triggers no municipal paperwork at all.

The residential fabric comes mostly out of the 1950 to 1970 development boom, then out of the outlying-sector consolidation that began in the 1980s. Those houses are now at the heavy-renovation stage; 76% of dwellings have three bedrooms or more. The territory holds 26,887 residents under the 2026 population decree, across 42.25 km² of land area, 29.1% of it in the permanent agricultural zone.

Two landmarks that place the work: the ski hill and Parc national du Mont-Saint-Bruno together draw 900,000 visitors a year, and the village core grew up where chemin de Montarville meets De La Rabastalière, beside the 1851 Vieux Presbytère, today a classified heritage property.

Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville urban plan URB-PU2017, the city's Statistics page and the Quebec government's 2026 population decree (decree 1499-2025), verified August 16, 2026.

Job sites, industry and retail

Two parks share the industrial activity: the Gérard-Filion business park, whose north sector keeps close to 44 hectares for high-performance industrial firms, and the Écoparc, west of Highway 30, nearly 100 hectares partly folded into the Longueuil airport zone. Together they account for close to 4,050 jobs and rank the city third among the agglomeration's industrial employment hubs. The city writes that it already hosts well-known companies such as Alstom, Norampac, Exceldor, Hydro-Québec and Stelpro.

On the retail side, Les Promenades Saint-Bruno, built in 1978, hold 82% of the territory's 2,294,000 square feet of commercial space. Two practical points for a contractor: no commercially sourced material is taken in at the network's ecocentres, which closes the only municipal door; and the Public Works truck weighing service, entered through the reception counter of the ecocentre at 600, rue Sagard, is billed at $28 in 2026.

A word on truck access: schedule I of by-law C. 9-2A bars trucks from some 365 streets, among them Roberval, rue Montarville, Seigneurial E and O, De la Rabastalière E and O, Grand Boulevard E and O, De Boucherville and Clairevue E. The ban lifts when the point is to pick up or deliver goods there, provide a service or carry out work — that is what the P-130-P and P-130-20 signs at the neighbourhood entrances mean. Rue Sagard, for its part, is not in that schedule.

Urban plan URB-PU2017, the Gérard-Filion business park page and the truck weighing page (stbruno.ca), by-laws 2025-20 (schedule I) and C. 9-2A (updated to June 30, 2022), verified August 16, 2026.

Winter in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville

Between December 1 and April 1, no one may park a road vehicle on a street or public square from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. — except, by-law C. 9-1 specifies, when construction or repair work carried out on a property prevents parking on that property. In plain terms: as long as the dumpster occupies your driveway, the car is entitled to sleep outside. Nights with no snow-removal operation are announced on the Info-Stationnement-Hiver line, at 450 645-2925, and it is up to the vehicle owner to check it daily. Mind how far the text reaches: it governs the parking of road vehicles and never dumpsters — nothing here forbids keeping one through the winter.

The real seasonal conflict is elsewhere. From November 1 to April 15, a temporary car shelter may go up on a detached or semi-detached single-family lot — in the access lane leading to the parking area, at least 2 metres back from the curb, the municipal sidewalk or a bike path, and no more than 3.65 m tall. That is exactly the ground the dumpster would need. One call before delivery saves having to take anything down. Last reflex: snow, soil and ice are not to be pushed onto a public road or onto public property.

By-law C. 9-1 (updated to June 2, 2026) and zoning by-law URB-Z2017, chapter 3, section 93, City of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, verified August 16, 2026.

Why the drop-off centre is not enough in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville

It opens 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the same hours all year long; you are asked to arrive at least 30 minutes before closing and to report to the gatehouse with your driver's licence and the vehicle registration certificate. For a small clear-out, nothing beats it. Here is where it stops.

The ruleWhat it means for a job site
12 entries / yearPer address, for the network's three ecocentres combined
2.5 m³ per visitThat means four trips at the very least for a 10-yard dumpster, thirteen for a 40-yard
Unloading by handYou unload alone; nothing over 7.5 m, and dump trailers are refused
Residential onlyNo commercially sourced material is accepted anywhere in the network

Two restrictions specific to this site come on top: branches are not taken here — you have to drive up to Marie-Victorin or Payer — and granular material (rock, brick, concrete, asphalt) is accepted only from April 15 to November 15. Bulky-item collection, for its part, comes by on the first Wednesday of the month only, three items per building at most, and turns away construction and renovation debris. The municipal text is just as blunt: anyone wishing to dispose of demolition, construction or renovation debris, soil, concrete or rock must remove it, or have it removed, by their own means and at their own expense. Its definition of "ultimate waste" confirms it a second time, by leaving those same materials out of the collection. One bonus all the same: residents leave the ecocentre with free mulch and compost.

City of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville (Ecocentre page and by-law 2025-15, adopted July 3, 2025 and in force July 8, 2025) and the Longueuil agglomeration, verified August 16, 2026.
