Dumpster rental — or bin rental, as many Montrealers call it — for the big cleanout, an estate, a renovation or a demolition: dry materials, soil, concrete, bricks, asphalt and more.
14' long × 8' wide × 2.5' high · 3 to 4 pickup-truck loads
A 20-yard filled halfway: same footprint, just lower — choosing it won't free up space in a short driveway.

Libération Express
Every rental includes 7 days — 15 for contractors. But if you work fast, our quick-release promotion rewards you:
More than 48 hours after delivery, the promotion no longer applies — your 7-day rental simply continues, without the credit.
Freeing up dumpsters sooner is also what lets us deliver faster everywhere in Mont-Saint-Hilaire — everyone wins.
Offer valid during the high season (March to October).
A full dumpster is heavy, and drop-off and pickup are when asphalt gets marked. Every Megabac dumpster arrives clean, safe and fitted with the exclusive PROTEC-O-SOL system: built-in planks that spread the load and protect your asphalt, concrete or paved driveway. Nothing to supply, nothing extra to pay.
Even with the planks, the dumpster is still a steel box. Before the truck arrives, lay down four flattened cardboard boxes — or a thin sheet of plywood — where the dumpster will sit: the steel never touches your asphalt or your pavers directly. Two minutes of prep, zero worries.
The price depends on the size, the type of materials, how long you keep it — and your area. The form above or a two-minute call is all it takes to get your exact price, fast. What makes up the price, in plain words → And if you free up the dumpster within 48 hours of delivery, the Libération Express credit applies — details below.
Size is not the whole story: dumpsters are rented by material type. Each type goes to a different disposal facility — that is why mixed loads bring extra fees. One choice to make, five options:

10, 20 and 40 cubic yards
The do-it-all dumpster: wood, drywall, metal, shingles, furniture — mixed, no problem.

20 yard — the only size offered
Excavation, grading, sod removal — soil, rocks and sod, nothing else.

20 yard — the only size offered
Walkways, slabs, foundations — broken concrete, nothing else.

20 yard — the only size offered
Walls, chimneys, masonry facing — bricks and mortar, nothing else.

20 yard — the only size offered
Old torn-up paving, curb pieces — asphalt, nothing else.
Why it matters. A dumpster rented for concrete that shows up at the disposal facility with wood in it is refused at the concrete rate: the sorting gets billed back. If you have several types of materials, say so in the form or at 514 708-2424 — we point you to the right type, or to two dumpsters when that costs less than sorting fees.

Propane, aerosols, acidsA public-property occupancy permit, and only when the dumpster reaches the street, the sidewalk or the grassy strip along the curb: $26 per day, $357 maximum in 2026, issued by the designated officer without going through council. Section 37 of by-law 1309 expressly covers job-site dumpsters serving an adjoining lot. If your situation is unclear, the planning department answers at 450 467-2542.
A $1,000 to $2,000 fine from the first offence for an individual — and every day counts as a separate offence (by-law 1309, s. 49). Next to that, the $26-a-day permit is a bargain: this may be the costliest rule to ignore anywhere in the region.
Rarely all the way: the free quota of 12 m³ per year — about 15.7 cubic yards by the MRCVR's own published figures — is nearly swallowed by a single 20-yard dumpster. Add the rig limit of under 7.5 m with no dump trailer, the Tuesday and Wednesday closures in summer and the three opening days in winter. For a few trips it earns its keep; for a whole basement, the dumpster leaves in one go.
No: contractors and materials from commercial activity are refused there, and lettered trucks are banned. The only prior authorization the MRCVR issues goes to a resident hauling materials from their own home (Info-collectes, 450 464-4636). Debris from a job handed to a contractor therefore leaves in a dumpster.
None of them do: garbage runs every three weeks in a single wheeled cart per address (360 L maximum), and the monthly bulky-item collection — reserved before Friday noon — expressly refuses wood, gypsum, doors, windows, ceramics, concrete, brick, asphalt shingles, mineral wool and every other construction, renovation or demolition material.
Picture a parked Dodge Caravan: that is the footprint of a 20-yard. The 10-yard lays the same rectangle on the ground at a lower height — so it frees up no room in a short driveway, but it loads more easily over the side. Add the clearance the truck needs to back in and set the dumpster down, and our drivers' tip: four flattened cardboard boxes or a thin sheet of plywood on the chosen spot, on top of the built-in planks.
When the dumpster is freed up within 48 hours of delivery: $50 then comes back to your credit card, deducted from any extras or refunded in full if there are none. Miss the window and nothing goes wrong — the 7-day rental simply carries on, without the credit. Offer valid during the high season (March to October).
And elsewhere? We checked the permit rule in every city we serve, by-law in hand — because it is never the same from one city to the next.

We deliver to every neighbourhood in Mont-Saint-Hilaire — and we know the area.
Among Hilairemontais households, the single-family home rules: 4,885 of the 7,765 occupied dwellings, or 62.9% — and not one building in the entire city rises to five storeys. The typical job here is therefore the home renovation. In the Vieux-Village, around the classified Saint-Hilaire church and the birthplace of painter Paul-Émile Borduas, we set the dumpster down with care on period lots; in the Village de la Gare and La Pommeraie, both more recent, asphalt driveways take every size on their planks.

Mont-Saint-Hilaire's main commercial strip is Boulevard Sir-Wilfrid-Laurier (Route 116), which runs through the town centre; the city's industrial frontage, for its part, clusters near Highway 20. That is where our 40-yard dumpsters work on scheduled rotations. On the chemin de la Montagne, an agritourism destination where the city protects its orchards, we time deliveries away from the apple-season rush.

From December 1 to March 31, street parking is banned between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. — except on nights when the city lifts the ban because no snow-removal operation is planned, a status posted by 5 p.m. at the latest. The rule targets vehicles, but it carries the essential point: the roadway must stay clearable over its full width. The occupancy permit under by-law 1309 applies on the street in every season; your private driveway, meanwhile, answers to no snow-clearing calendar. One last useful marker: construction machinery has to stay quiet outside 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, even on duly permitted work.

Having it at home lifts none of its ceilings. Here they are, in numbers.
| The rule | What it means for a job site |
|---|---|
| 12 m³ / year | Free yearly quota for bulky items and renovation materials; $2.50 per 0.1 m³ beyond it |
| ≈ 15.7 yards | What that quota amounts to: a single 20-yard dumpster consumes nearly all of it (calculated from MRCVR figures) |
| Under 7.5 m | Car or pickup, with or without a non-tipping trailer — dump trailers turned away |
| Closed Tue-Wed | In summer; in winter, open Friday through Sunday only, last entry 15 minutes before closing |
| Contractors | Not admitted, lettered trucks banned — the MRCVR authorization is issued only to a resident for materials from their own home |
At the curb, garbage is collected every three weeks in a single wheeled cart of at most 360 L, and the monthly bulky-item pickup — reserved before Friday noon — expressly excludes wood, gypsum, ceramics, concrete, brick, asphalt shingles and every other construction, renovation or demolition material. No curbside collection takes job-site debris: that load is what a bin rental is for.
