Your driveway is protected

A full dumpster is heavy, and drop-off and pickup are when asphalt gets marked. Every Megabac dumpster arrives clean, safe and fitted with the exclusive PROTEC-O-SOL system: built-in planks that spread the load and protect your asphalt, concrete or paved driveway. Nothing to supply, nothing extra to pay.

A tip from our drivers, for total protection

Even with the planks, the dumpster is still a steel box. Before the truck arrives, lay down four flattened cardboard boxes — or a thin sheet of plywood — where the dumpster will sit: the steel never touches your asphalt or your pavers directly. Two minutes of prep, zero worries.

How much does it cost?

Included in your rental

  • Delivery and pickup
  • 7 days of rental — 15 for contractors — whatever the size
  • The PROTEC-O-SOL protection planks
  • An included weight allowance, spelled out in your quote

What can be added

  • Going over the included weight, billed by the weigh ticket
  • Mixed loads in a single-material dumpster
  • Winter scraping fees, when materials have frozen to the walls

The price depends on the size, the type of materials, how long you keep it — and your area. The form above or a two-minute call is all it takes to get your exact price, fast. What makes up the price, in plain words → And if you free up the dumpster within 48 hours of delivery, the Libération Express credit applies — details below.

Choose the right type of dumpster

Size is not the whole story: dumpsters are rented by material type. Each type goes to a different disposal facility — that is why mixed loads bring extra fees. One choice to make, five options:

Why it matters. A dumpster rented for concrete that shows up at the disposal facility with wood in it is refused at the concrete rate: the sorting gets billed back. If you have several types of materials, say so in the form or at 514 708-2424 — we point you to the right type, or to two dumpsters when that costs less than sorting fees.

Frequently asked questions — Saint-Laurent

Do you need a permit to drop a dumpster in Saint-Laurent?

Yes as soon as the dumpster touches the public roadway, no if it stays entirely on your own land. Dumpsters are named outright in the official list of installations subject to the temporary public-domain occupancy permit, Saint-Laurent tab. Call us before you apply: in plenty of cases a back yard, or a truck waiting on site while you load, is all it takes.

How much does occupying the street cost in Saint-Laurent?

$60 in issuing fees, then $57 per day to occupy the street or the sidewalk up to 49 m² — $65 per day in a lane or behind the sidewalk. Five days in front of a house therefore means $345 in municipal fees, on top of the rental. The form lives online at montreal.ca, and the borough announces 5 business days of processing.

Is there an ecocentre in Saint-Laurent?

Yes, at 3535 rue Sartelon (514 872-0384), and it is one of only two sites in the Montreal network where visits are unlimited — elsewhere the cap is 15 per year. Mind the hours: closed every Monday; in the warm season the gate is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday; from October 15 to April 14 it tightens to 10 a.m.–6 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Does the Saint-Laurent ecocentre take mattresses and old sofas?

Yes for mattresses and box springs: it is the only ecocentre in the Montreal network that recycles them. And in this borough, upholstered furniture is accepted at the bulky-item collection — refused elsewhere — provided you set it out in a separate pile. For a whole house to empty, the volume passes the 5 m³ the collection accepts per address in a hurry.

Can you keep a dumpster on the street in Saint-Laurent in winter?

Best avoided the moment the snow starts. During loading operations, street parking is prohibited by temporary signage, and in Saint-Laurent the signs go up during the work shift before the ban, sometimes only four hours ahead. Equipment left there gets in the way of the operation and the city can have it removed: from December to March, plan the dumpster on private land.

Can my business just haul its own debris to the ecocentre?

Yes, but at its own cost and by hand. Unlike the Longueuil agglomeration, Montreal admits construction businesses based on the island, at $31 per cubic metre of C&D debris, occupancy certificate in hand — and ecocentre staff do not help with the unloading. The equivalent of a 20-yard dumpster, or 15.3 m³, works out to roughly $474 in fees, before the round trips and the labour hours.

How much room does it take in front of a duplex or in a back yard?

Count on a strip 8 feet wide and 14 feet long for the 10 or the 20-yard, 20 feet for the 40 — and the truck needs its own clear approach for the lift. A 20-yard takes up about the footprint of a Dodge Caravan; the 10-yard is that same footprint at a lower height — handy for loading over the side, useless for freeing up room in a short driveway, which is a common one here.

And elsewhere? We checked the permit rule in every city we serve, by-law in hand — because it is never the same from one city to the next.

What the housing stock changes here

Of the borough's 37,380 occupied private dwellings, only 10.9% are single detached houses: close to 30% sit in buildings of five storeys or more, and 59.4% in attached housing — duplexes, triplexes, row houses. One dwelling in two is rented. The consequence for a delivery is very concrete: the driveway is short when there is one at all, and the street-permit question comes up far more often than out in the suburbs. The habit that settles most cases: measure the back yard and the side lane first, then call us with the size you have in mind, before you book anything with the city.

Sociodemographic profile — 2016 Census, borough of Saint-Laurent, Montréal en statistiques, consulted August 14, 2026.

A borough built around industry first

Saint-Laurent is one of the largest boroughs in Montreal — 42.8 km², with 70% of its territory given over to industrial and commercial activity — home to 4,500 businesses and 108,000 jobs, which is more jobs than residents. The Technoparc, launched in 1987, is presented by the city as the largest technology park in Canada and brings together more than 100 companies in aerospace, pharmaceuticals and clean energy. For those job sites: 40-yard dumpsters, scheduled rotations, and single-material dumpsters whenever a demolition separates the concrete, the brick or the asphalt.

Snow removal: what happens between December and March

Once a snow-loading operation is called, street parking becomes prohibited for set periods and temporary signage goes up. The Saint-Laurent quirk: the signs are posted during the work shift before the ban takes effect, sometimes about four hours ahead. A vehicle still sitting there is towed and its owner fined — and a dumpster stuck on the roadway during an operation is exactly what the city is trying to clear. From December to March, plan for the driveway, the yard or the building's own land; the snow-removal operations map and the 311 Montréal app both track the notices in force.

Why the drop-off centre is not enough in Saint-Laurent

That is a genuine local advantage, and for a garage clean-out it is the right answer. Here are the four numbers that settle everything else.

The ruleWhat it means for a job site
Closed on MondaysAll year long — and closed Sundays as well from October 15 to April 14
12 m³ free / yearPer resident; past that, $31 for each extra cubic metre
Unlimited visitsThe exception in the network, with LaSalle: 15 visits a year everywhere else
Your own two armsEcocentre staff do not help with the unloading.
Businesses admittedBased on the island, $31/m³ of C&D debris, $15.50 weigh-in

At the kerb, bulky-item and construction-waste collection serves households only: stores, schools, places of worship and organizations have to go through a private supplier. It stops at 5 m³ per address per collection, in receptacles of 25 kg, and the city flatly refuses plastic bags — including the “construction bags” sold at hardware stores. Past those limits the job belongs to a private hauler — a bin rental, or your own truck and your own weekends.
