10, 20 and 40 Cubic Yard Dumpster Rental in Hemmingford (Township)

Not for the dumpster itself — and here, unlike most municipalities, it is written in plain words. Section 3.4.2, paragraph 10 of zoning by-law 309 reads: « Les conteneurs à déchets sont autorisés pour la durée des travaux sans certificat d'autorisation » — waste dumpsters are allowed for the duration of the work without a certificate of authorization. The same paragraph immediately sets the condition: they may be installed « only after obtaining a permit or a certificate authorizing work ». So the work permit comes before the dumpster, and that is the written order. Fee by-law 343 sets no municipal charge for a dumpster, a bin or a temporary occupancy either. The by-law sets a double clock: the dumpster « must be removed within a maximum of fifteen (15) days following the end of the work or the expiry of the permit, whichever comes first » (zoning 309, s. 3.4.2, paragraph 10). Two dates govern, and the nearer one wins. The detail that surprises people: a demolition certificate in the Township is « valid for the duration written on the certificate, without exceeding 60 days » — the rental window gets planned from that expiry, not from the truck's availability. And since each day of an offence « constitutes a separate offence », a dumpster left ten days too long exposes you to ten tickets, not one. We note your work end date when you book, and we call before.

We do not offer it, and we would rather say why. No Township provision found as of August 21, 2026 allows a bin to be set down on a travelled way, and section 7.7 of by-law 329 prohibits dumping waste in a public place, a watercourse or a ditch. The truck itself is on the clock: « no one may park a motor vehicle or other vehicle on a travelled way for more than sixty (60) minutes to carry out work, loading or a delivery » (s. 5.5), a 150 $ fine; hindering free circulation costs 75 $, with towing possible at the owner's expense. Finally, the Township placed on its May 4, 2026 agenda the adoption of by-law 342 on the occupation of public land, meant « to govern certain occupations of public land, notably by temporary installations »; its text was not published as of August 21, 2026. Until it is, we promise nothing on the roadway: the spot is on your land.

For a car trunk, maybe. For a job site, no, and the caps are public. The Township drop-off centre limits every visit to « the equivalent of one (1) load by half-ton pickup », refuses all masonry — asphalt, cement, brick, gravel, stone, rock, cement blocks, patio stone, pavé uni — and refuses « commercial waste » and « industrial waste » in so many words. On the Compo-Haut-Richelieu side, construction materials are capped at 3 visits of 75 cubic feet per address per calendar year, asphalt shingles counting double, concrete and asphalt limited to 75 cubic feet per visit unloaded by hand, and dump trucks with 6 or more wheels are banned. On their figures alone: 225 cubic feet for a full year, or 8.3 cubic yards — less than a single 10 yard dumpster, which holds 270 cubic feet. A 20 yard holds 540 cubic feet, a 40 yard 1,080.

The dumpster, and it is the municipality that says so. The Township's own drop-off centre sheet lists « commercial waste » and « industrial waste » among prohibited materials, and Compo-Haut-Richelieu specifies that a company vehicle or trailer is « always subject to fees » and that a user cannot « present themselves with their contractors (registered or not) and benefit from their free visits ». On a territory whose urban plan notes « a concentration of tourism activity far higher than in the rest of the regional county » — cider houses, orchards, vineyards, equestrian centres, campgrounds — and a « very dynamic agricultural vocation », that is a wall that comes back every end of season. By-law 329 prohibits construction, demolition or repair work « between 20h00 and 07h00 », emergency work aside — and it sets no different schedule for weekends: it is 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day (s. 7.2). Section 7.1 adds a rule that holds at all times, on excessive noise perceptible beyond the property line. From November 15 at 11 p.m. to April 15 at 6 a.m., add the ban on parking or immobilizing a vehicle on a travelled way between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. (s. 5.9). Our deliveries are planned inside those windows, and the truck does not sit more than 60 minutes on the travelled way.

In the yard, and its spot has to be kept early. Temporary car shelters are allowed without a certificate from October 15 to April 15, up to two per lot; outside the urban perimeter they may stay all year if they keep 5 m from lot lines, out of front yards, 30 m from a street and 20 m from a watercourse or wetland. Snow fences follow the same calendar. And the snow itself counts as « rebuts » under by-law 329: pushing it into a public place, a watercourse or a ditch is a nuisance at 200 $ for an individual and 400 $ for a corporation, doubled on a repeat offence. Two shelters, a snowbank and a dumpster in the same yard get drawn out when you book.

We deliver in both, but the rules quoted here are the Township's. The Township of Hemmingford and the Village of Hemmingford are two separate municipalities, with two councils and two bodies of by-laws; the Township's urban plan says it itself: « le village d'Hemmingford est enclavé à l'intérieur du canton ».
